Welcome to Birches Head Academy

Welcome to Birches Head Academy.  As one of the most improved schools in the City, I am proud of our students and their many achievements.

This summer our students celebrated academic success; a just reward for their hard work and determination to succeed.  This determination, alongside the dedication of talented and inspirational staff, enabled us to see an overall 11% increase the proportion of grades at C (or the new grade 4).

Our most recent Ofsted Inspection described us as a ‘rapidly improving academy’ and this year’s results demonstrate that we have built a firm foundation on which to grow.  This is a new and exciting chapter in the school’s history.  Ofsted also recognised our strong pastoral care.  This individual level of care is made possible due to small year groups with dedicated Pastoral Leaders.  Our academic success is also a result of the values we instil in our students; to develop confidence, resilience, self-respect and a sense of responsibility.  We actively encourage our children to celebrate success and foster a sense of pride in themselves and the school.  This approach has led to success in many other fields including winning the KMF ‘Spirit of the Young Engineer’ ...Read More

YEAR 11 EXAMINATIONS

Well done to all Year 11 students in completing your examinations.

From all the staff at Birches Head Academy

Breakfast is such an important meal of the day for children.  Research shows that children who eat a healthy breakfast can concentrate more and are less disruptive than those who are hungry.

This is why we recently started to offer breakfast here at BHA, as part of The National Schools Breakfast Programme.  This is being delivered across the UK by two charities: Family Action and Magic Breakfast.

We are looking for up to 15 parents to take part in a 60-minute focus group that will discuss ideas about how to get more children to take up the offer of breakfast at school – date to be confirmed but this will be after school hours.

If you would like to be involved, please contact R Smith via info@bircheshead.org.uk and we will be in touch with more details very soon
