At Birches Head High School we aim to support each child developing the skills, values and knowledge to prepare them for the ever changing lifestyle of the technological age of the 21st century. As a school we are fully committed to providing an education that prepares our students to take an active role in their communities.
We are a multi cultural city school with a strong sense of community. Easter 2005 we moved into the first phase of our new build providing state of the art ICT rooms, English rooms with interactive whiteboards and mathematics' rooms fully networked for ICT. In addition we gained a brand new hall and drama studio. Over the summer of 2005 & 6 the existing part of the school was upgraded and we moved onto one site.
In June 2006, Phase 2 of our new build began providing new music & media studios, recording studio, SEN and student support facilities, art rooms and humanities areas.
The school is fully networked and student laptops are available for booking for use in classrooms. As the first school to receive new ICT technologies through Stoke-on-Trent's £180 million Building Schools for the Future Project we will be provided with nearly a million pounds worth of ICT facilities providing Interactive Whiteboards in all rooms, more laptops for students and a Learning Gateway to provide ease of access to resources for parents and students.
