| Our aim is to provide the best possible education for each and every student by working in partnership to personalise this education to suit the needs and interests of our young people. We want to create successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve; confident individuals who are able to lead safe and healthy lives and responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society. The school vision of “Growing Brighter Futures for All” encapsulates the beliefs and values that underpin our work. It is our belief that all our students have the potential for excellence. We believe everyone has the right and the opportunity to reach their full potential and beyond. This requires high quality teaching, high levels of student engagement and high levels of parental support. It also requires there to be a businesslike and purposeful learning atmosphere in the school where good behaviour allows teachers to teach and students to learn. This is fundamental if student progress is to be outstanding. At Birches Head High School partnership work is central to our philosophy in ensuring we can enhance learning. Through collaboration we strive to offer greater choice and diversity and provide the opportunity to enable all students develop leadership skills. We have developed our Key Stage 3 curriculum to provide a greater focus on skills acquisition and our proud that we were selected as a case study of good practise in this area. Key Stage 4 we offer a very wide choice of GCSE, BTEC and Diploma subjects – and work in partnership with other schools, colleges and providers to ensure we can try and meet the interests of each student. We are committed to ensuring we meet the needs of all our students in order to prepare them for life in the 21st century. In 2010 we became a Co-operative Foundation School building on the strong partnership work within the school. Artsmark, Healthy Schools and Sportsmark. The future of Birches Head High School is exciting. |
