Birches Head Academy

Beyond the Classroom

At Birches Head Academy we provide every child with an education which will empower them with the skills, knowledge and understanding they will need to prosper in modern society.

We understand that learning happens in many different ways, and our students are given the best possible opportunities to enjoy learning that will develop them as individuals beyond their academic study.

We place enormous value on extended learning and provide a rich and varied range of opportunities through both academic study and enrichment activities.

Our staff believe passionately that learning outside the classroom is a crucial means of fostering talent, skills and abilities, and it gives students a sense of achievement. Activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, dramatic productions and residential experiences help students to become well-rounded members of the community by building their resilience and confidence. We encourage participation in sport for all; our main sports are football, cricket, netball and rounders. Music, drama, art and photography are central to our curriculum and to the extra-curricular life of the school, with performances taking place on site and across the community.

Thursday 2nd April

Birches Head Academy will be joining the new national scheme for issuing free school meal e-gift cards whilst we are closed. For those who qualify, we will contact you and send your e-gift card by e-mail or we may ask you to collect from school as part of your daily exercise. This will commence next week as we see it as vital that we continue to support you over the Easter break. Vouchers will continue each week to the value of £15 per child.

We wish you a happy Easter.

The main office is closed from Friday 3rd April at 3pm until Monday 20th April at 8am. During the Easter period, we will be regularly monitoring emails but there will be a delay in dealing with any requests.

If you are having difficulty with the Free School Meal voucher code, we will forward your query and it will be dealt with as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience whilst we navigate this new system.

In accordance with Government guidance, the Academy will be open to the children of Key Workers only over the Easter period. Spaces allocated by request.

Thank you for your continued support in these challenging times.
