Book Bench Trail

On Tuesday 9th April Miss Sanders (Library Supervisor) and Miss Gibbs (English Teacher)  had the privilege of taking 4 lovely students to City Central Library in Hanley, to celebrate the launch of the Book Bench Trail. They were given the opportunity to have a look at the full collection of 20 benches that had been painted by schools around the city,  listened to the brilliant local performance of poet Nick Degg and were treated to a Harry Potter-themed story by a professional storyteller.

Before they left the students were given some Book Bench Trail maps, which detail all the places around the city which will house one of the benches (our ‘Wonder’  bench will be at the Regent Theatre). Birches Head Academy would like to encourage as many students (and staff!) as possible to get out and about on the trail over Easter, taking a look at these fantastic tributes to favourite books old and new. The benches will be on display until 30th June.
