Capital Venture

What happened as a result of the High School Congress, hosted by us in January?  The students’ opinions were reported to groups of adult decision-makers and one of the ideas has been given funding.  Our students will lead the project.

The young people at the Congress said that they don’t really know much about elections, political parties, or how national and local government works.  Do you know who your MP or MEP is?  Have you ever seen the Houses of Parliament?  The thinking was, everyone should visit our nation’s capital and see where decisions are made.  We will organise guided visits to “Citizenship Sights” in London and in Stoke-on-Trent.  Then we are going to come up with some creative solutions to let young people know – Who is Speaking Up for Stoke?  If you are 13 now, which government will you be electing in 2015?
