In January, eight of our Year 9 students and 2 Year 10s became conference leaders. They planned, rehearsed and then presented the inaugural Stoke-on-Trent event, together with the Voluntary Action Services Team. This was a conference lead by students, for students from other High Schools. More than 70 Year 9 students from 13 other High Schools came. The topic for the day was Positive Contribution – what you can do for your city, and what your city can do for you.
Our students lead workshop sessions where young people gave their opinions on a range of topics. The results from the day will be reported to City leaders.
This team of students is the youngest ever, in the whole city, to lead such a high-profile event. Our stars were:- Adam Ainsworth, Jack Cooper, Seif Ehtsham, Danny Jones, Jamie Lyons, Natasha Makhetho, David Muller, Evans Ofori, Emily di-Silvestro and Jemma Thorpe.
Thanks also to Jack Owen and Zaynah Farak (Y11) who welcomed everyone on the day and spoke about their own experiences of Student Leadership.
