Birches Head Academy

Frank Field former MP visits us

Birches Head Academy hosted a visit from former Labour M.P Frank Field on Thursday 27th February.

Birches Head Headteacher Ms Dixon said: “This was a wonderful opportunity for Birches Head”.

“Frank Field is one of the nation’s most thoughtful and respected yet unabashed and outspoken experts on social welfare and educational methods.”

“When Frank Field got up to speak in Parliament, his fellow politicians listened and his philosophy and research has shaped many of the advances in social justice over the last 40 years.”

Mr Field and representatives from the Frank Field Educational Trust met with students from our Franklin Scholars, Student Council and several students from YR 8.

Mr Field said: “I was incredibly impressed. These young people, like young people all over the world, want to learn, want to discover and want to make to make a contribution.”

Thank you to all the students who represented Birches Head Academy at this visit.
