Look what 12 of our Year 7 participants have been up to this week!
Day 1: Exploring the outdoor spaces on the school site and choosing a “wild” or overgrown area to develop for their project. They chose to re-develop the planters to the left of the front yard on the grassy area (“fairy ring”), next to the public footpath.
Day 2: Lots of weeding to clear the planters, and re-setting the stone edging round the sides of the 3rd one along to look neat and tidy. Raking, laying fresh compost and raking again. Tidying and clearing the site, thinking about what they might plant after the summer break.
Day 3: Trip to Stanley Head for: team building, axe throwing (!), climbing and “power fan” (jumping off a high platform attached to a cord).
The students were amazing throughout and many have requested an “eco club” for September so they can continue the work they have started.
