The year 7 girls football team played their first tournament at Holden Lane High School last week. The competition involved schools from all over the city, both North & South. The girls played 6 matches, winning 4 (including Holden Lane B & A teams) and drawing 2. The competition was very close with two teams tied on points for first position, Birches Head & Blythe Bridge. In the end the teams were split on goals scored with Blythe Bridge scoring 19 and Birches Head scoring 16. This was disappointing for the girls having worked so hard, only to be pipped to 1st place on goal difference, but still a fantastic result. Miss Matthias said that the girls can be very proud of their performance, they were excellent throughout.
