Dear Parent/Carer
IMPORTANT NOTICE – SCHOOL CLOSURE
You may already be aware that the following Trade Unions have called a one day strike on Wednesday 30 November 2011: ATL, NUT, NAHT, NASUWT and Unison.
A number of teaching and support staff at the school are members of these unions and will be taking strike action on this date leaving us insufficient staff to safely cover classes. As a result, we have no option but to close the school to students on this date.
This is not a decision taken lightly, but the health, safety and wellbeing of our students has to be our priority and without the presence of these vital staff I am unable to guarantee the wellbeing of students.
If the strike is called off, school will be open as normal.
All staff not taking strike action will be working as normal and individual staff may ask students who are taking examinations shortly, to attend school for specific sessions during the day. This will be arranged on an individual basis.
All students taking part in these activities should proceed as per the arrangements on the individual letters sent out.
Lessons resume as normal on Thursday 1 December.
Yours sincerely
K Healey
Headteacher
