The tougher the challenge the better for brilliant GCSE student Sophie Holland who has earned a place on Cambridge University’s three-day taster course for Veterinary Science.
To that end she will spend three days on a residential placement at the end of April at Cambridge’s Faculty of Veterinary Science preparing for a possible university career.
Sophie won her place both by writing a personal statement and on the recommendation of her teachers and says she has always wanted to be a vet.
Mrs Brammer, Science Coordinator, added: “Sophie is a great student, a really hard worker, a fantastic scientist and has a very supportive family which really helps and I certainly think she has all the qualities Cambridge is looking for.”
After sitting her GCSEs this summer, Sophie wants to go to Stoke Sixth Form College and knows she is likely to need to straight A *** in all her A Levels if she is to go up to Cambridge.
She added: “I don’t know what type of veterinary scientist I want to be because there are so many choices and finding out is one of the reasons for going on this course, but I know it will be hard work and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
